THRILLING GAME IN K. CUP SERIES

N.Z HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

(P.A.) DUNEDIN. Sept. I. The fourth round in the K Cup hockey tournfament was played in Dunedin yesterday under good conditions. The most thrilling game of the day was between Wellington, the present holders of the cup, and Auckland A, Wellington scoring two goals in the final minutes to win two-nil. Wellington has thus won all four matches played so far in its section and having drawn a bye in the fifth round goes through to the semi-finals, where it will have a bye and therefore will be automatically in the final. By defeating Ashburton in a close game Canterbury A also won four games to enter the semi-final, which will be played on Thursday. Other teams in the running are Otago, which has two wins and a loss and will play Taranaki in the fifth round of the section today, and Wairarapa, which has two wins and two losses. Playing against Canterbury A In a fourth round match yesterday, Ashburton almost caused an upset. It was leading by two goals to one at one stage and only spirited play by Canterbury in the second half forced a win by four goals to two. Australia beat Taranaki by nine goals to nil in a fine exhibition of forward play. Results: — K CUP Fouxth Round.—Section A: Waikato 3 v. Wanganui 2; 'Wellington 2 v.
