GISBORNE CHESS CLUB : CHAMPIONSHIPS START

The Gisborne Chess Club’s championship matches were commenced on Thursday night, the first round being played and completed during the weekend. Results were:—H. J. Toye drew with J. H. Walker; D. Cranswick drew with R. J. Thompson; L. Meredith defeated Day; P. Fischbach defeated R. Newtek. The game between T. Toye and B.
