(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Aug. 30. D. Humphries, Christchurch, had a well merited win in the Gore-Invercar-gill road cycling race held on Saturday. Riding off 16 minutes, he covered the 40-mile journey in one hour 49 minutes 52 seconds, beating T. Hackett (Invercargill) by three lengths. The fastest time was gained by B. Lynn (scratch). Dunedin, his time being 1 hour 43 minutes. The first four placings were:—Humphries, 1; Hackett, 2; M. Cattermole (Avon), 3: M. Spence (Christchurch), 4.
