FARMER FINED £loo FOR NEGLIGENT DRIVING

(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH. Aug. 26. David Gray, of Omata, a farmer, a single man aged 27 years, who was convicted in the Supreme Court last week of negligently driving a motor car at Omata on July 13 and causing the death of Hazel Ruth Lilly, aged 14 years, was sentenced bv Mr. Justice Hutchison this morning. He was fined £IOO and ordered to pav the costs of the prosecution amounting to £B4 16s Id.

His driver's license was cancelled for four years. William Robert Thompson, of Pihama, married, aged 33 years, who pleaded guilty in the Lower Court at Opunake to two charges of unlawful carnal knowledge at Pihama was admitted to probation for two years on each charge, the terms to be concurrent. He was also ordered to pay £5 18s 6d towards the cost of the prosecution.
