HICKS BAY WEDDING

■KAA—STAINTON (Herald CorresponCer.r.) A wedding of widespread interest to residents of both the Hicks Bay and Rangitukia districts, celebrated .in Hicks Bay last Saturday, was that of Rosie Kaa, Rangitukia. and Manu, son of Mrs. E. Stainton and the late Mr. G. W. Stainton, Hicks Bay. The Rev. T. Wanoa, Te Kaha, assisted by Mr. T. Houkamau. lay-reader, officiated. The couple were married in .traditional style at the ■ Hine M.auria meetinghouse.

The bride’s gown was of cream satin, slightly trained, with a heart-shaped neckline. A triple siring of pearls and ear-rings to match completed a charming ensemble. She was attended by Mrs. Kerina Burden, matron-of-honour, and by Misses B. Mauheni, M, Korau. M. Ngatai, A. Brown, R. Jensen, J. Clark and M. Bee as bridesmaids. Their frocks were varied, making a colourful rainbow effect, The bouquets were of spring flowers to tone with their frocks. The best man was Mr. Harry Houkamau, and Messrs. G. Jensen, T. Burden and E. Kibble were the groomsmen. The bride was given away by Mr. E. Mauheni.

The reception was held in the Hine Mauria Hall, where the mother of the bridegroom, Mrs. E. Stainton, received a large number of both European and Maori guests who. were afterwards entertained at a dance. The future home of the young couple will be at Hicks Bay. M.Ps. to Visit Britain Three members of the Legislature will be seeing the United Kingdom again for the first time in many years when they attend the conference of the Empire Parliamentary Association in London in October. Mr. W. Black, M.L.C., Nelson, and Mr. J. Roy (Opposition, Clutha) were last in the United Kingdom during the First World War. Mr. C. R- Petrie (Labour, Otahuhu) comes

from Scotland and will be returning there after an absence of 30 years. Mr. P. G. Connolly (Labour, Dunedin Central) was in the United Kingdom while serving with the Royal Navy in the recent war. Mr. W. Sullivan (Opposition, Bay of Plenty) will be making his first visit to the United Kingdom. The delegation will leave Auckland on August 18.
