“FARM MACHINERY AVAILABLE IN STERLING SOURCES”

(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, July 15. Strong disapproval of the Federated Farmers’ scheme for the purchase of farm machinery and tractors from the United States said not to be available from sterling sources was expressed today by the Invercargill representative of a farm machinery agency. He claimed that > a big proportion of tractors and machinery sought by the federation was available in sterling sources.

His statement was confirmed by representatives of other firms dealing in farm machinery. “They say equipment is not available from sterling sources. We say that it is available and could be supplied within a very short time,” declared the representative. “And yet they are suggesting that repayment should be madp from the sale of butter and lamb in the United States—butter and lamb which should go to the United Kingdom, where they are urgently needed.”
