AID FOR BRITAIN DONATIONS INCREASE
More coupons were surrendered in the Gisborne district for the week ended June 12 than for some weeks. The overall district totals were 132 butter coupons, or 661 b of butter, and 9565 meat coupons, or £ll9 11s 3d in equivalent cash value. Gisborne’s silent street appeal each Friday is still most fruitful, last week 13 butter and 459 meat coupons being received. The following schools made a worthwhile contribution to the appeal: Tokomaru Bay Public School, 267 meat coupons; Te Hapara School, 889 meat coupons: and Gisborne Central School, 24 butter and 2870 meat coupons. A good effort was recorded at Opotiki, where 3212 meat coupons were cancelled.
