(P.A.) AUCKLAND. June 17. There was a ready demand for a large yarding of lambs at the Westfield stock sa’e yesterday, and values were very firm. Sheep were penned in large numbers and prime wethers sold at late quotations. while values eased for increased supplies of fat ewes. An average yarding of beef met with a steady demand and late quotations were well maintained. Values showed a further improvement for an average yarding of calves, and vealers again met a very keen sale. Very few pigs were yarded and the quality of stores was poor. Pork sold at advanced rates and bacon was also keenly sought.
