Route to Wairoa Open

The main highway from Gisborne to Wairoa, via Morere, was open this morning to traffic, but some doubt existed concerning the condition of the Wniroa-Napier section of the State highway, according to a message from the Gisborne office of the Automobile Association (Auckland). Heavy rain had been experienced in northern Hawke's Bay and communications south of Wairoa were difficult. However, some travellers had been getting through from the south and it was understood that the route was open. Travelling conditions were not good.
