REDS TIGHTEN GRIP ON NEW CZECH CABINET

(10.30 a.m.) PRAGUE, June 15. The Czech President, M. Gottwald, swore in M. Zapotocky’s Cabinet of 22, including 13 Communists.
The only new member is M. Augustin Klim, a Communist leader, who becomes Minister of Industry, succeeding the Social Democrat, M. Fierlingcr, who becomes Vice-Premier.
M. Jan Sevcik, the Slovak Rebirth party, also becomes Vice-Premier. His old post of Secretary of State in the national Defence Ministry has been abolished.
Two people left the Cabinet. They are M. Goltwald and the Social Democrat Vice-Premier, M. Bohimil Lausrr an, who recently announced his retirement from politics. Three Social Democrat Ministers will become Communists when the Communists and Social Democrats merge. The Cabinet representation will then be: Communists 16; Czech Socialists two; People’s Party, two: Slovak ReLirth Party, one; Slovak Freedom Party, one M. Lev Sychrava, ex-editor of the resistance newspaper Narodni Osvoboztni, who recently argued the case for press freedom at the United Nations, was arrested and sent to gaol at Pilsen. Sychrava is reported to have been caught at the border while trying to cross.
