MOVE TO RESTORE AMERICAN FOREIGN AID CUTS

(10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, June 15. After three hours’ heated argument the Senate Appropriations Committee voted yesterday to spend 6,125.700.000 dollars for foreign aid in the next year 408,010,225 dollars less than the Administration requested. The committee’s action, which will be debated by the Senate later this week, in effect, recommends the restoration of most of the reductions voted by the House. It is believed that the Senate will accept the committee's recommendation without a major change, but a bitter struggle is expected when the Senate and House conferees meet to reconcile the ‘ differences between the Senate and House versions of the bill. The House leaders are still adamant that the Senate appropriations are too high and have sworn to fight to the last cent.
