INDIAN PUSH INTO HYDERABAD POSSIBLE

(10 a.m.) LONDON, June 15. The possibility of the Indian forces marching into Hyderabad cannot be ruled out if the present attempts fail to end the deadlock, says the Daily Herald’s correspondent in New Delhi. Such action might cause a grave reaction in Pakistan and also jeopardise the position of the 35,000,000 Moslem minority in In dm. Already the troops and police on both sides are under orders to pursue any raiders across the State boundary. The Hyderabad Premier, Mir Laik Ali and two other Hyderabad Ministers

have arrived at New Delhi to resume negotiations with the Indian Government for the settlement of Hyderabad’s disputed accession to India. The Times corresondent in New Delhi says the talks have now reached a crucial stage. The Governor-General, Lord Louis Mountbatten, has done his best to promote a peaceful settlement before he relinquishes office next day. The extremists on both sides oppose any concession and there appears_to be no more than a fair chance that reason will triumph. It is understood that a formula has been evolved which concedes to India the substance of accession by Hyderabad while preserving the Nizam’s status as Premier and ruling prince. The formula also provides for an Immediate grant of a substantial measure of responsible Government to the people of Hyderabad and the promise of further constitutional reforms through the medium of the Constituent Assembly. However, other contentious points like the degree of communal representation in the Constituent Assembly and the immediate disbandment of the Razarkars (private army), remain open.

The Government of India has agreed to the Nizam of Hyderabad’s request for 12 hours’ extension before giving his final reply to India’s draft agreement on the accession of Hyderabad to India.

The Nizam’s reply is expected tomorrow morning.
