DOLLAR CUTS AFFECT COFFEE IMPORTS

(P.A.) AUCKLAND. June 15. ‘“Yes, there is an awful lot of coffee in Brazil,” agreed Mr. O. Corroia, retiring Brazilian Minister to Australia, on board the Marine Phoenix from S.vdnev this morning, “but the dollar restrictions won't allow any of it to be exported to Australia or New Zealand.”

M Corroia, who is taking up an pointment in Ecuador, said there were limited Brazilian exports to Australia but these were restricted maimy io tobacco and cotton.

Brazil imported large quantities of Australian wool.

The dollar restrictions and the British Empires preferential trade prevented reciprocal trade between the two countries to an extent to which it wui possible that most of the coffee used in Australia would be imported from India.

‘‘Australians drink much more coffee than New Zealanders,'’ M. Corroia added.
