FRANCE DELAYS WESTERN TALKS ON GERMANY
;<lO a.m.) LONDON, June 14. France has asked Britain and the United States for a postponement of the talks on Tuesday on the form of the future Government for Western Germany because, on that day, the French Assembly will vote on the six-Power conference’s recommendation, says the Daily Mail’s correspondent. France asked for a postponement for the following reasons:— 1. French Government must have the Assembly’s support before it considers the six-Power conference's recommendations 2. France wants to give Russia a lost chance to come in on the efreement.
3. France seeks a more definite military guarantee from the United States. 4. France hopes for Allied concessions, particularly over control of the Ruhr.
The Daily Telegraph’s correspondent in Paris says the general >piniun is that the Government will scrape through with a small majority in the Assembly over acceptance of' the sixPower conference proposals for Germany.
The belief is held that the majority parties will support the Government through fear of doing anything which might assist General De Gaulle’s return to power.
INTERIM ADMINISTRATION CIL3O a..m) FRANKFURT, June 14. The present bizonal administration of Germany would act as the Government until Western Germany chose a new Government, said Lieutenant-General Lucius Clay. The carrying out of the proposed currency reform would be affected whatever the outcome of the trizonal fusion discussions.
