PRESIDENT TRUMAN TARGET FOR REPUBLICAN SALVO

WASHINGTON’. June 11. Names that have rarely been applied to an American President are now being hurled at President Truman from all over the nation as the Republicans retaliate for his recent assertion that the present Congress is “the worst Congress ever.” The Republicans have issued statements replying that Mr. Truman is the worst President the United States has ever had. but some of the verbal salvoes are far stronger. One Republican Congressman from the floor of the House called him “a dirty little gamin.” Senator Taft referred to him as “the gallivanting President” and declared that Mr. Truman’s assertion •would give aid and comfort to the Communists and Fascists, who wanted to destroy* representative government.
