Steamships had come East and tea cargoes were no longer payable for sailing ships. Shipmasters were looking for new freight. And they had not far to look. Already a new fleet of fast sailing ships was racing down the roaring forties with cargoes of wor ’ from Australia and New Zealand for the English Markets.
