Two-shear ’Down Ewe at 280gns.

A world record price for a female sheep was paid in Feilding Inst week, when a two-shear ewe was sold to Mr. H. J. Andrew, Maheno, for 230gns during the dispersal of the Kereru Southdown Stud, the property of Mr. W. J. Slack, Bunnythorpe. Wide interest was taken in the sale, conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Limited. With exceptionally keen bidding from the'start, prices were obtained for various classes of ewes which were claimed as record figures received at auction in New Zealand. Both aggregate and individual prices were regarded bv Wellington stock agents as constituting a probable world record.
