DUNEDIN INCREASES RATES
(P.A.) DUNEDIN. June 11. The Dunedin City Council this morning raised total rating from 5 it to 5/4, increasing the general rate by Id to the statutory maximum of 2 / 6, increasing the library rate id and reducing the hospital rate from fid to 71d. The proposed expenditure in 1948-49 was £386.733, compared with the total votes last year of £333.265, and includes £2OOO as the first instalment towards the Royal visit.
