Flooding; of the Gisborne flats, and the soaking rains which have continued during- the past week have denied agriculturalists the opportunity of preparing ground usually devoted to the main early potato crop in (his district and it does not promise very well for the early season’s planting. After last season’s experience, growers of potatoes will be treading warily. It is doubtful if they will now he in a position (o work tip their ground in sufficient time to catch the early market. Some of the very early areas were planted many weeks ago and the crops have been progressing well.
