A.N.A. TO FLY UNDER FOREIGN FLAG

MELBOURNE, June 7. Australian National Airways keeping its promise that, if necessary, it will fly under a foreign flag to operate overseas air routes, has acquired an interest in a Hong Kong airline. The general manager of the company, Mr. H. F. Walsh, confirms that Australian National Airways is one of the main parties in a merger company which will take-over the business of Cathay Pacific Pacific Airways Limited. The other party is Butterfield and Swire, one of the oldest established firms on the China coast After Australian National Airways had been refused licenses to fly from Australia to London, via Mexico City and New. York, the managing director. Mr. Ivan Hol.vman, said that the company would fly under a foreign flag if it was forced to do so. The new company is to be an. extensive international freight and passenger carrier.
