Recent. —Those favourite "highwaymen" are .on the move again. Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, aided and abetted by Dorothy Lamour, have hit the road. This time its the “Road to Rio,” which is being screened at the Regent. On their previous "trips” to Singapore, Morocco, 7' , ->7,ibnr, and Utopia, these clowns have hit the high spots in wonderful fun and song, but this trek to South America even outdoes them. Its gags come thick and fast, the laughs are just one long continuous one, and the songs are more tuneful than ever. Majestic.—“My Pal Trigger” is a delightful story about a cowboy and his horse. The cowboy is Roy Rogers and the horse is "Trigger.” also in the cast are Dale Evans, George, “Gabby,” Hayes and the Sons of the Pioneers. The touching moments are ably balanced by songs and comedy by the Sous of the Pioneers, and a couple of tuneful numbers presented by Roy Rogers and Miss Evans. There is a good line-up of featurettes. King’s.—" Dear Murderer," commencing tomorrow, is a J. Arthur Rank production in the sphere of vivid melodrama. It is the story of a man, Dee Warren, who, returning from a business visit to the United States, suspects his wife Vivien of having been unfaithful. Lee proceeds to hatch up an ingenious murder. This act is only the beginning of a story positively livid with excitement. The play is well done, with Eric Portman, Greta Gynt, Jack Warner, Maxwell Reed and Hazel Court in the leading roles. ..Popular Singers.—lt is not difficult to understand why Webster Booth and Anne Zeisler enjoy in Britain a measure of popularity that comes only to n few, when it is realised how versatile they are and consequently how wide is the field of their activities. Between them, they have scored triumphs in the international opera at Covent Garden, performed in oratorio with Dr. Malcolm Sargent, and starred in musical comedy on Broadway. In addition, they have costarred in three films, "Faust,” "Waltztime,” aiul “The Laughing Lady.” The last mentioned film, a Technicolour production, is due for New Zealand release shortly. On tlie London stage, outstanding successes have come their way in such fine productions as "Sweet Yesterday” and “Vagabond King. They will sing in the Opera House, Gisborne, on Monday. June 21.
