STATE HOMES TO LURE TRAMPS INTO JOBS

(11 a.m.) LONDON, June 3. Britain is establishing experimental Government reception centres on all Britain’s highways to accommodate the growing number of tramps with the ulterior motive of helping to solve the man-power problems. The tramps will be invited to 6tay several days with meals and a bed provided, but will be subject to a barrage of persuasion to forget the lure of the road and take a settled job. They will be urged to go to a rehabilitation centre if they are not already fitted for a trade.
