COMMERCIAL MANAGER OF RAILWAYS
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 27. The Minister of Railways, Mr. R. Semple, announced the appointment of Mr. K. A. Wallace to the position of commercial manager of th' New Zealand Railways, succeeding Mr. H. A. Steere, who retired recently on superannuation after 40 years’ service. Mr. Wallace joined the Railways Department as a cadet at Auckland in 1915. After serving progressively at various stations in the northern district, he was appointed to the district traffic manager's office, Auckland, in 1937. He entered the commercial branch as Auckland commercial agent and held that position until his transfer in 1944 to the head office, Wellington, as assistant commercial manager. Mr. W. E. Hodges, commercial agent at Wellington succeeds Mr. Wallace as assistant commercial manager.
