CANBERRA, May 25. It is learned authoritatively that the Government does not intend to appoint a Royal commission to inquire into the allegations against the Minister of External Territories. Mr. E. J. Ward, at the Garden trial or into the administration of the Department of External Territories. . •> The Prime Minister, Mr. J. B. Chifley. and the Attorney-General, Dr. H. V~ Evalt, conferred last night on the matter and their recommendations will go forward to the Cabinet. “I have never had any doubt about the honesty of the Minister," said the Prime Minister, commenting on the charges made against Mr. E. J. Ward. “I do not believe the charges and I never have.” A spirited attack by the Opposition is expected when Parliament resumes next week.
