CHANGE OF LEADERSHIP
ATTEMPTS IN UNION (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 14. Two opposing groups appear to be laying claim to the leadership of the Auckland Woollen Mills Union as the annual election of officers approaches. Those seeking to unset the present officers because some are regarded as pro-Communist were expected to make a bid for control of the union at a meeting last night, but they apparently were content to wait for the annual election. They considered that the annual postal ballot will decide the issue almost as soon as the special ballot and in any case another would be necessary next month.
Supporters of the group aiming to change the leadership of the union have appointed a chairman and trustees of the union but a statement made last week indicated that the present officials still regard themselves as the responsible officers of the union.
