SEAS STILL HIGH
Seas were still running high this morning and were well up on both the Kaiti and Waikanae beaches, having lapped the concrete promenade at the latter beach at high tide. Both beaches were strewn with driftwood today, there being some large pieces of timber on the Waikanae. A good deal of rubbish was cast up on both beaches by the heavy seas, but no material damage to harbour works or seaside sections was reported this morning. The Koau, which came into Gisborne on Wednesday night seeking shelter, was still in port this morning. No other shipping was known to be affected on the coast.
