Eus Travel Allowed. By amendment to the war pensions regulations, 1945, gazetted last night the free travel facilities granted to certain fully disabled pensioners on full permanent pensions are extended to enable them to use their passes on certain bus routes. Hitherto these passes have been available only for rail travel. Imported Eggs. By a customs import prohibition order, gazetted last night, extended safeguards are provided against the importation of infected domestic eggs—of hens, ducks, geese or turkeys, which might spread disease among New Zealand poultry. The principle of this prohibition is not new, but the regulations have been revived to guard against the introduction of a wider range of diseases than hitherto.—P.A. Meeting Cancelled The meeting of local manufacturers which was to have been held last evening was unavoidably cancelled owing to the president of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association. Mr. D. OWhvte, being held up by the weather in Napier. It is the intention of the president to visit Gisborne in July, when the business of forming a local manufacturers’ association will be proceeded with. Junior Chamber of Commerce At the fortnightly meeting of the Gisborne Junior Chamber of Commerce Mr. H. Stephenson presided as chairman for the evening, and Mr. H. Bodl« was master-at-arms. Two short addresses were heard, one from Mr. R Dyer, director of meteorological services for the Pacific area, and the othei from Mr. C. H. Cooper, president oi the Gisborne-East Coast Regional Coun t cil. The speakers were accorded vote) of thanks on the motions of Messrs M. Andrews and J. McCallum respec lively. Messrs. Andrews and J. Eddj were elected to the board to fill vacancies The meeting supported a recommendation to the Gisborne Borougt Council that a “no exit” sign be placet at the entrance to Anzac street, aftei Mr. A. Sunderland had referred to thi volume of traffic which mistakenly en tered the street. Members were noti tied that as a result of the junio: chamber’s representations a public tele phone booth would be established a f the corner of Childers and Lytton road in the near future.
