FOUR PARALYSIS CASES

AUCKLAND PROVINCE tP.A.) AUCKLAND, May 1. Four more positive cases of infantile paralysis were reported in the Auckland province yesterday, one being from the Central Auckland health district. This was a man from Papatoetoe who was admitted to the Auckland Hospital at a suspect on Thursday, and was later reclassified. No other cases were reported in Auckland. Northland had two further cases, both girls aged six, from the Parapara Maori settlement in the Mangonui county. This is not far from Peria, where a previous outbreak occurred. The girls were admitted to the Kaitaia Hospital as suspects and later diagnosed as positives. A girl aged 12 years from Otomarakau was admitted to the Tauranga Hospital at a positive case. CASE AT OPUNAKE (P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 1. A positive case of poliomyelitis in the Opunake district was notified yesterday. The patient is a girl of seven years. Of the 53 cases reported in Taranaki since November, 22 remain in hospital and two have died.
