Wellington Regiment Reunion

Twenty-five ex-servicemen of the First World War are proceeding by special conveyance leaving Gisborne this evening to attend the annual reunion in Palmerston North of the Wellington Infantry Regiment, Ist N.Z.E.F. The travel schedule provides for an all-night journey and arrival at Palmerston North early tomorrow. An appropriate toast list is to be honoured at the smoke concert in the Awapuni racecourse kiosk tomorrow evening and a church parade is to be held on Sunday morning at All Saints’ Church, where the colours of the regiment are deposited. The Rev. Keith Elliott, V.C., will deliver the address. Members of the Hawke’s Bay companies, to which men from the Gisborne district were posted mainly when proceeding on active service, tomorrow lead the church parade and Mr. G. B. Carter, secretary of the Gisborne and East Coast organisation of the regiment, is to be the adjutant.
