QUOTAS EXCEEDED

POWER SUPPLY FIGURES (P.A ) WELLINGTON, April 27. The North Island power supply authorities exceeded their allocations by 964,000 units, or 3.73 per cent, during the week ended Sunday. They were allocated 25,733,000 units, but the consumption rose to 26,747,000 units. The electricity controller. Mr. A. E. Davenport, said that as a result of the improvement in the lake levels, the schedule of allocations which was previously suspended was now being resumed. The allocation for the present week would be 15 per cent less than the scheduled figure. Mr Davenport emphasised that there would be no more units for consumers generally than were used last week. The position would be reviewed at the end of the week, by which time it was hoped that the supply authorities would have been able to reduce their consumption to the new allocations. There was no change in the broadcasting restrictions.
