MANDATE HAND-OVER
DATE MAY BE ADVANCED LONDON, April 26. Britain, in certain circumstances, may terminate the Palestine mandate a few days earlier than May 15, according to diplomatic and political quarters in London, although authoritative sources stated that the official date so far has been unaltered. The period between May 1 and May 15 is regarded as the “handing over” period, and May 15 is the latest date on which the mandate would end, but the possibility of the terminal dale being slightly advanced has not been ruled out. Political sources denied a report that the Cabinet had already decided to surrender the mandate on May 5.
