Re^nt—M.G.M.’s “Song of the Thin Man,” . commencing today at the Regent, has William Powell and Myrna Loy in their familiar roles of Nick and Nora Charles. Thrills and comedy are combined in their latest offering, which concerns the murder of an unpopular, band leader on board a gambling ship. Nick and Nora are soon on the scene and find themselves involved In a whirl of thrilling and hilarious complications as their investigations lead them among a host of suspects. A strong cast includes Keenan Wynn, Dean Stockwell, Phillip Reed and Gloria Grahame. Majestic.—M.G.M/s new comedy drama. “Undercover Girl," stars Ann Southern in her popular "Maisie" role. The film tells of the vivacious blonde's adventures in the police force. Yes, Ann is a policewoman in "Undercover Girl" and she has many thrilling and hilarious adventures while pursuing a gang of "confidence" tricksters. The associate feature, "I Cover Big Town," is a thrilling newspaper comedy-drama starring Robert Lowery and Hillary Brooke. The programme includes "The Scarlet Horseman." King’s.—" Lured," which commences today, concerns an American show girl working in London, whose beßt friend disappears, and is thought to have been murdered after answering an ad in the persohal column of a daily newspaper. Lucille Ball plays the fast-talking, alert American girl to perfection. She is willing bait when Inspector Temple (Charles Coburn), of Scotland Yard, asks her aid to round up a dangerous maniac responsible for this and many similar crimes. During Lgcille Ball’s hair-raising adventures, she meets many strange, suspicious characters. "Tony Draws a Horse"—Leslie Storm's sparkling comedy Is being staged by the Gisborne Repertory Society at the Opera House for a two-night season on May 3 and 4. Witty lines, a modern setting and story and a carefully selected cast under the control of Miss Ellen Millar as producer would seem to assure the society of an outstanding success, and.no effort is being spared to maintain the high standard of the society’s productions.
