Taximen Cricketers

Negotiations are reported to be in progress for a visit to New Zealand next cricket season of a team of Australian taximen and if it eventuates a return visit will probably be paid by a similar team from New Zealand. S. G. Barnes, a well-known Australian test player, first made a name for himself in taxi cricket in Sydney, where the cab drivers have organised a competition involving about 10 teams. The negotiations have not reached the stage of arranging an itinerary, but it. is expected that if the Australians come they will niay in the main centres and also possibly play a couple of test matches.— P.A
