GOOD FIRST YEAR
MANUTUKE Y.F.C. MEMBERSHIP GROWTH As the closing function for its first year's activities, described as highly satisfactory by a number of speakers, the Manutuke Young Farmers’ Club conducted its annual meeting in the Manutuke Memorial Hall on Saturdayevening and followed the formal business with a dance. At the general meeting the chairman, Mr, D, G. Smith, reported on the year’s operations with its instructive field days, addresses on topical farm subjects of a wide appeal and social events including Rugby matches. He said the membership had grown to 53 and average attendances at meetings had been 25. The election of officers resulted: — Chairman, Mr. D. G. Smith; secretary, Mr. W. A. Patterson; treasurer Mr. T. A. Spence; senior advisory member, Mr. S. D. Briant; advisory members, Messrs. G. V Smith and R. G. Hine. The statement of accounts showed a donation of £SO towards the Y.F.C. memorial fund. It was explained that the amount yvas arrived at by a levy of £1 per member which was being called for by the organisation for three consecutive years in order to raise funds ti build accommodation for short-term students at Massey Agricultural College and a library at Lincoln College. The buildings would form the national war memorial of the movement.
Votes of thanks were accorded the P.B. Agricultural and Pastoral Association for its assistance and co-operation with the movement; to the advisory members for their help and assistance; to the executive officers and social committee.
