MAN SEVERELY BURNED

OCCUPANTS’ CLOSE CALL (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, April 19. A man suffered burns, causing ms admission to hospital, and several other persons had narrow escapes from serious injury when a six.roomed house 32 Maitland street, ’"as gutted by fire yesterday morning failing to awake before the fire gained a good hold, the occupants made their escape in their night attire. Some were cut oft from the door and had to clamber through the windows One young man, trapped by the flames, could not open the window and had to break the glass by diving through, receiving severe cuts. Re-entering the house, the owner, Mr. James Mclntosh, aged 44. was seriously burned about one shoulder and was admitted to hospital. Little was saved.
