SHIP TOWED TO PORT
WHEAT CARGO SAVED (11.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 19. Lloyds reports that the American steamer Bert Williams, which went aground in the Red Sea, lias reached Suez in tow with approximately 5500 tons of wheat which the steamer was taking from Fremantle to Cobh. The wheat was undamaged. This corrects a report that the ship had broken up. Lloyd’s surveyor reports that the vessel is seriously damaged.
A message from London on April 12 stated that the Bert Williams had been abandoned after grounding near Queseir. The steamer Kindat was attempting to save the crew, who were in lifeboats.
