SIX PERSONS HURT

CAR FALLS 400 FT, MOTHER AND CHILDREN TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE (P.A.f BLENHEIM, Apri] 19. A married woman and her five children arc patients in the Kafkoura Hospital with injuries received when a car left the road at the top of Hundalee hid about eight o’clock last night and rolled 400 feet down a steep slope. They are: Mrs. Henrietta Louise McClintock, Cheviot; fractured leg. Florence Agnes McClintock. aged 9; fractured skull, condition serious. Averill Louise McClintock. aged 6; compound fracture of the arm, condition serious. Joan Elizabeth McClintock. aged 8; shock and abrasions. Heather Joy McClintock, aged 21; concussion. Andrew Wayne McClintock, aged 15 months; shock. Two of the children were thrown out soon after the car left the road and had a terrifying experience seeing it carry on to the bottom of the hill. They followed the car down and were told by their mother to go and get help. Although bleeding from numerous cuts and considerably shaken, they regained the road and set out in search of assistance They were met about two miles on the Kaikoura side of Hundalee bv a motorist who gave immediate assistance and called medical heln.

The injured were admitted to’hospita bout 10 p.m
