WAIKOHU GOLF CLUB

PLANS FOR THE SEASON ANNUAL MEETING HELD < Herald Correspondent.) The annual general meeting of the Waikohu Golf Club drew a large attendance of old and new members indicating a successful season for 1948. The balance sheet showed a satisfactory credit of 636 4s Bd. An inspection of the links having been made previously, it was unanimously decided that owing to the heavy growth of grass on portion of the ground, some temporary greens be made in the meantime. Play will be commenced very shortly and n workin" bcc will be arranged for this weekend.

Officers elected were: Patrons. Mr. E. M. Hutchinson, Colonel C. C. Dowling: presidents, Mr. L. H. L. Maclean: vicepresidents, Messrs. G. S. Bridge and F. ,T. Greatbatch: secretary and treasurer. Mr. W. V. R. I.uttrell: club captain. Air. H. F. Hammond: vice-captain. Mr. FW. McLean; ladies’ captain, Mrs. E. Cranswick: ladies’ vice-captain, Mrs. C. Gaukrodger: ladies’ secretary, Miss V. Seamons: lion, auditor. Air. L. 11. L. Maclean: general committee, Mr. L. HL. ATnclean (chairman). Mesdames A. M. Tremewan. C. Gaukrodger, E. Cranswick. Miss V. Seamons, Messrs. G. S. Bridge. H. F. Hammond, E. Bradley, R. H. Brown, F. W. McLean, and W. V. R. Luttrell. Subscriptions were fixed ns follows: Men. seniors, £2: juniors (under 20 rears of age) £1; ladies, seniors, £1 10s: juniors, 10s; first year plovers, £1: school age, ss. Green foes: Financial members of any golf club, Is (id per round. 2s per day; non-members, 5s per round (under 30 miles from course). Club competitions will bo as in previous years, but the committee will have power to cancel anv set match which may not. receive sufficient entries. A proposal brought forward by the secretary for an intcr-club competition between Pot.ntahi. Turnngnnui, and Waikohu clubs was approved. Trophies won last season were presented by the president, Mr. L. IT. L. Aiaclean. and included: Club championship , senior men. E. Bradlev; club championship, junior men. ,T- Te Pniri: club championship, senior ladies. Mrs. A M. Tremewan: club championship, junior ladies. Miss V. Seamons; president's cup, men. R. J. Fisher; president’s cun. ladies. Mrs. E. Cranswick: club handicap, men. R. J. Fisher,; club handicap, ladies, Mrs. A. M. Tremewan.
