NORTHERN boards ECONOMIES IN POWER RADIATOR BAN GENERAL Action taken by the Auckland and Waitemata Electric-Power Boards respectively to reduce the consumption of electricity in conformity with the directions of the electricity controller are always of interest to other authorises and to consumers in other districts. , The latest announcements of restrictions by both boards suggest that they are taking no chances with the possibility of penal reductions in allocations. In the Auckland board’s district waierheaters, both domestic and commercial, must be switched off between 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and 9 p.m. on Fridays, with continuous use allowable during the rest of each week. Domestic electricity supply is cut between 0.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. on every day of the week, in addition, commercial and industrial supply is cut between 4.30 p.m. and 5.30 p.m on every day of the week except Sunday. Radiators are under a total ban. In the Waitemata district, the consumption of current through waterheater installations is limited to seven units per day, and dairy water-heaters are to be used as sparingly as possible. The general supply is cut throughout the board’s area between 11.30 o'clock and 2.30 o’clock each night, and a further cut between 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. daily is under consideration. Radiators and floodlight systems are under a total ban. Both boards have imposed restrictions on shop-lighting. The ban on'radiators includes tubular, panel and sapee-heat-ing appliances.
