DR. FISHER’S CRITICISM HANDLING PALESTINE The Archbishop of Canterbury, DrGeoffrey Fisher, told the British Council of Churches that the United Nations has been extremely dilatory and ineffective in all dealings with the Palestine problem. “They hoped, if they dallied long enough, that Britain would relieve them of their responsibilities,” he said. The United Nations must at once appoint a Governor-General responsible for the peace and safety of Jerusalem.” The Archbishop said he could not support a continuance of the British occupation of Palestine.
