BRITISH ORPHANS
/ CHILDREN FOR N.Z. (PA.) WELLINGTON, April 15. The Cabinet had decided to bring a number of British orphan and other British children to New Zealand, stated the Minister of Immigration, Mr. A. McLagan, in reply to an inquiry last night. The Minister said the number would be decided in accordance with the children available and the number of approved guardians \.ho could receive them in New Zealand. The Department of Labour, said Mr. McLagan, was at present making a survey of the number of suitable homes available for the reception of the children. When this survey nad been sufflcently advanced arrangements would be made with the High Commissioner’s office in London and the British headquarters of the Overseas League for the selection of suitable British children to be received into New Zealand homes. The final selection as to the suitability of the children would be made by the Now Zealand immigration officials at New Zealand House in London.
