OPPOSING TICKETS

TRADES COUNCIL POLL UNUSUAL SITUATION (P.A.) AUCKLAND, April (4. Never has the Auckland Trades Council election been more clearly a tussle between two opposing tickets as tomorrow night’s ballot, but in electing the executive both groups face the necessity of giving support to oponents. _ The odd situation arises because both tickets contain only six eligible candidates for seven executive seats, while the constitution provides that seven votes should be cast. 'Xlie pro-Communist ticket contained seven names when the nominations closed, but one man, Mr. J. Mackie, secretary of the Engineers' Union, was not re-elected a delegate to the Trades Council and was not eligible for the council executive.

The reason why the anti-Communlst ticket contains only six names is that it was found at the last minute that the seventh proposed nominee was not available.
