HORSES & RIDERS
GOOD STANDARD SHOWN WAERENGA-A-HIKA SPORTS (Herald Correspondent.) The competitions of the Waerenga-a-hika Sports Club drew a good attendance of contestants and picnickers to the picturesque grounds by the river on Saturday. In the majority of the events the lists were well filled and quality mounts with riding of a uniformly good standard characterised the varied programme which also featured a number of popular athletic events. A number of side-shows attracted liberal patronage. Capable attention was given to the administration duties by the committee members and the smooth control of the programme was an important factor in maintaining interest. Mr. F. Evans officiated as judge of the horse events and Mr. C. Mossman made the awards in the pony and children's riding classes. With very even competition both judges experienced much difficulty in reaching decisions. In the evening a most successful social was held in the Ormond Hall where music tor dancing on the excel lent floor was provided by Miss Lena Ruru’s popular orchestra.
