WOMEN’S BOWLS
EXCELLENT PROGRESS
CHAMPIONSHIP PAIRS
Excellent progress has been made in the annual pairs championship tournament of the East Coast Women’s Bowling Centre which opened on Tuesday at the Kahutia green.
Yesterday afternoon the 7th and final round was being played, the games including the meeting of the two so far undefeated pairs skipped respectively by Mrs. H. Spence (Heretaunga) and Mrs. J. Mackay (Port Ahuriri). As all other pairs had suffered at least two losses, this game would decide the championship issue, though the indications were that a play-off would be necessary for the runner-up position. Progress results follow. Fifth Round. —Mrs Mackay, 24 v. Mrs. Sangwell, 9: Mrs. Watters, 15, v. Mrs. Griffin. 14; Mrs. Spence, 11 v. Mrs. Williams, 10; Mrs. Logan, a bye. Sixth Round.—Mrs. Mackay, 15 v. Mrs. Williams, 14; Mrs. Spence, 16 v. Mrs. Griffin, 7: Mrs. Logan, 16 v. Mrs. Sangwell, 15; Mrs. Williams, a bye.
