“QUELL HYSTERIA”
MR. WALLACE’S CALL CONGRESS CALMNESS (10 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 17. An appeal to Congressional committees, urging them to “quell the war hysteria” was made yesterday by the Presidential candidate, Mr. Henry Wallace. Referring to President Truman's decision to address the joint session of Congress, Mr. Wallace said: “There is no evidence that any nation has threatened acts of aggression against us or threatened our national security. Yet the President and the members of his Cabinet act as though a war crisis were imminent. “The people look to Congress for calmness and sanity,” he declared.
