CHARGE DISMISSED

PROSECUTION OF BUILDER (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 16. A charge of paying a carpenter, J. Brehaut, more than the basic rate contrary to the economic stabilisation emergency regulations brought against the Williamson Construction Company was dismissed by Mr. F. F. Reid, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The prosecution said that Brehaut had been paid 3s 9d an hour, but the defence counsel submitted that the extra payment was made for dirty work done on the Christchurch Hospital job. The magistrate said there were grounds for holding that Brehaut’s work was of an unusual nature.
