MR. N. DUMONT has been appointed manager of the Union Steam Ship Company’s new office to be opened in Hamilton tomorrow. He was in the Sydney office for six years and at Gisborne for four years. Mr. Dumont served in the Air Force overseas for four years, was awarded the D.F.C. in 1943, and returned to New Zealand as -a squadron leader. Haiti Residents’ Enterprise In pursuance of its plan to establish a community play centre for the suburb on a centrally-situated property which has been offered for the purpose, the Kaiti Residents’ Improvement Association has undertaken the organisation of a gvmkana for Easter Monday, in connection with which a programme of horse events, national dancing, and children’s sports competitions has been drawn up. Additional attractions will include cooking classes for housewives and a baby show in three sections, with a number of games for the patronage of the general public, residents of the area have rallied strongly behind the committee, and fairly substantial contributions have been received or promised for the prize fund. Proceeds of the fixture will be devoted to the landpurchase fund recently established by the association.
