INDOOR BASKETBALL GISBORNE ASSOCIATION The growing interest in the game of indoor basketball in the district in common with other centres of the Dominion was referred to in the report presented at the annual meeting of the Gisborne association which drew a good atten dance to the Y.M.C.A. rooms on Wednesday evening. The president, Mr. D. Richardson, congratulated players and supporters on a highlv-successful season. He thanked all who had given co-operation and expressed confidence that a similar spirit would mark the activities of the association in the coming period. Referring to the North Island championships held in Gisborne during the season, the president commended the excellent team work of all committees combining in tile very, successful administration. Association representative teams contested the Dominion championships in Wellington and also took part in an invitation tournament in Tauranga. Club teams travelled to Wairoa. Tolaga Bay, Napier, and Whakalane. Social Committee Work The efforts of the social committee with Miss V. Clarke and Mr. L. Roderick as supervisors proved eminently successful in the social affairs of the association besides raising funds without which the credit shown in the balance sheet would not have been possible. said the president. Thanks were also due. he said, to the works committee for the preparation of the courts, to time keepers, referees and scorers and all who contributed to the management of the game The balance sheet showed a credit of .£2O after all expenses had been met, including an outlay of £22(1 in expenses of travelling teams and £SO for the hire of the Army Hall.
