ST. JOHN GUILD

The annual meeting of St. John’s Ladies' Guild, was held on Tuesday, the Rev. F. Middlebr.ook taking the chair. jThere was a good attendance of memibers. Regret was expressed at Canon i Hall’s absence owing to illness. The annual report was read by Mrs. lEUiot, and the treasurer’s report by iMiss H. Watkins: Both were congratulated on their very comprehensive remarks.

The election of officers resulted: — President, Mrs. D. McNab (re-elected); !ho,n. treasurer, Mrs. Elliot (re-elected); ■vice-presidents, Mesdames C. Ferris, A. ,V. Clare, W. Wallace; committee. Mesdames Brewster, Figg, Fletcher, Torrie, Ball and Kerr; press correspondent, (Mrs. A. B. Figg. It was reported that the guild had had a very successful year. Many parcels of food and clothing had been packed and forwarded to Britain, letters being received from time to time from grateful recipients of the parcels. A ietter was read from Matron Long, St. Mary’s Hospital, Surrey, expressing her gratitude. Motions of sympathy were passed with Mesdames Williams, Olsen, Knight, and Brown.

Mrs. Hyland, a visitor, was welcomed, as also were three new members, Mesdames A. Campton, T. Thomson and A. G.. Hall. A discussion was held on the jumble sale to take place during the year. At the conclusion of business an enjoyable social afternoon took place. Birthday bouquets were presented to Mrs. E. Trowell, Mrs. G. Carter and Miss H. Watkins by Mrs. McNab. Bouquets were also presented to Mrs. McNab, Mrs. Elliot, Mrs. Clare, the retiring press correspondent, and Miss H. Watkins, retiring treasurer for many years. A telegram competition was won by Mesdames W. S. Kerr and G. Carter. Mesdames E. Trowell and Wallace, hostesses, were thanked by the president for a most enjoyable afternoon.
