Beau Le Havre Had Hoof Pierced

Soon after the start of the Taranaki Stakes at New Plymouth on Monday, Beau le Havre twisted a plate which pierced hih hoof. Despite this, his brilliant finishing burst into third place was one of the features of the race. He was very lame when he was leaving the birdcage, but showed no ill effects from the mishap when examined after his return to Stratford. He left Stratford yesterday on the first stage of his journey to Australia.
